The commander of a drone crew known by the call sign «Pitbull» has outlined the capabilities of the KUB strike drone system, saying it can engage targets at distances of up to 50 kilometers. He spoke about the platform in an interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda.

According to him, the unmanned strike complex is currently used by units of Russia’s «Zapad» grouping of forces. The serviceman noted that the system’s effectiveness largely depends on weather conditions, which can significantly influence the outcome of a mission.

He explained that the drone is capable of climbing to an altitude of up to 1.5 kilometers. In practice, however, operators often prefer flying at lower altitudes, which makes it easier to approach a target and carry out a controlled dive attack.

The crew commander also pointed out that operators can adjust the drone’s course while it is in flight. If necessary, the UAV can circle the area and wait until more precise target information is received before striking. At the same time, the KUB drone can reach speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour.

Earlier, in February, the Kalashnikov Concern unveiled a new version of the system — the KUB-10ME tactical guided munition. The updated drone was developed using lessons learned during the special military operation, and its range is reported to exceed 100 kilometers.
