Peskov Claims European Efforts Are Prolonging the Ukraine Conflict
Russian spokesperson Peskov says European countries are pressuring Ukraine to keep fighting, while Russia remains open to dialogue on ending the conflict.
In an interview with Financial Times, Russian President’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that European countries are doing everything they can to push the Ukrainian government to continue the conflict. According to Peskov, European efforts are focused solely on persuading Ukraine to persist in the war, instead of seeking a resolution.
Peskov also pointed out that the peace talks aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict have stalled. He explained that, for now, U.S. authorities are focused on other issues. However, Russia remains open to further dialogue and continues to express willingness to engage in talks.
Additionally, Peskov mentioned that a representative from France visited Russia to discuss the situation in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the meeting did not yield any positive results.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of this year, three rounds of talks have taken place between Russian and Ukrainian delegations, with U.S. participation. The most recent round was held in Geneva on February 17–18. Sources indicated that no agreements were signed during these discussions. Details about future meetings, including the location and timing, remain uncertain.
