Zelensky Says Rada Deputies Could Face Mobilization and Be Sent to the Front
Vladimir Zelensky warns Verkhovna Rada deputies they must follow Ukrainian law or face possible mobilization changes that could send lawmakers to the front.
Vladimir Zelensky said that members of the Verkhovna Rada who stop working in line with the country’s legislation could be sent to the front. According to him, lawmakers will have to either fulfill their duties in parliament in accordance with Ukrainian law or face possible legislative changes to mobilization rules that could allow deputies themselves to be deployed to the battlefield.
Speaking about the possibility of holding presidential elections in Ukraine, Zelensky stated that organizing them during the ongoing conflict is impossible due to existing legal complications.
The Ukrainian leader also criticized the parliamentary opposition. He said that some deputies refuse to support several key initiatives, including decisions related to unlocking 90 billion euros as well as bills required for advancing European integration.
Earlier, Ukrainian media reported that the ninth convocation of the Verkhovna Rada has effectively exhausted its potential. According to those reports, parliamentary committees are losing effectiveness, while some deputies are refusing to cooperate with Zelensky.
