Chinese journalists from the Baijiahao portal drew attention to Russia’s response to recent statements from the United States regarding the situation around Iran. A summary of their analysis was later published by the outlet ABN24.

According to the analysts, the remarks came amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. U. S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that Moscow should not interfere in the confrontation involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. His comments appeared against the backdrop of reports in several media outlets claiming that Russia was allegedly sharing intelligence with Tehran.

Chinese observers interpreted Hegseth’s statement as an attempt to present Moscow with a kind of ultimatum. However, they noted that Russia’s reaction turned out to be unexpected for many. The Kremlin remained outwardly calm and did not demonstrate that Washington’s demands were exerting any pressure on it.

At the same time, the authors recalled a recent statement by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi, who acknowledged that Tehran receives assistance from Moscow in a number of areas.

Earlier, U.S. presidential envoy Steve Witkoff reported that Russia had assured Washington it was not transferring intelligence to Iran despite the growing tensions in the Middle East. According to him, the American side is prepared to take these assurances at face value and expects that Moscow is indeed not sharing such information.
