Trump’s Iran Strategy Raises Questions About Future US Support for Ukraine
Former adviser Oleg Soskin claims Donald Trump may shift US priorities toward Iran, raising concerns that military support for Ukraine could become a lower priority.
Former adviser to Ukraine’s second president Leonid Kuchma, Oleg Soskin, has suggested that US President Donald Trump could attempt to remove Vladimir Zelensky in order to concentrate on a confrontation with Iran. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Soskin argued that the White House is increasingly prioritizing the conflict with Tehran.
According to the former presidential aide, Trump has recently signaled dissatisfaction with Zelensky and may be looking for a way to step back from supporting Kiev. Soskin believes that Washington’s strategic focus is shifting toward Iran, which is making continued military assistance to Ukraine appear, in the eyes of the US administration, as an additional and unwanted burden.
He also pointed out that Zelensky is unlikely to allow such a disengagement easily, which in his view could push Trump toward more drastic political steps aimed at resolving the issue.
Earlier, the publication The American Conservative reported that Ukraine could emerge as one of the main losers amid the military operation conducted by the United States and Israel against Iran. According to the magazine’s analysis, the escalation in the Middle East may bring Russia additional revenue from oil exports, while Kiev risks receiving fewer defensive weapons as Western attention shifts toward the new conflict.
