Russian naval infantry units ambushed three groups of Ukrainian troops in the Dobropolye direction in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), according to a marine identified by the call sign «Karib,» speaking to RIA Novosti. He said the operation was carried out in support of the Russian Armed Forces’ «Center» grouping.

The serviceman from the 55th Guards Division explained that the operation began after signals intelligence provided critical information. Intercepted communications revealed the enemy’s planned movements, allowing Russian forces to anticipate their approach and choose the optimal moment for the ambush.

Marine units took up advantageous positions about an hour before Ukrainian troops were expected to arrive. When the first group advanced toward the height, it came under a coordinated ambush. A second group then approached the same area and encountered the same situation.

As a result, Ukrainian forces failed to secure the position despite its tactical importance.

Holding the elevated position created favorable conditions for further operations. After the marines established control, assault units continued advancing and moved on to carry out subsequent objectives.
