Finnish Politician Claims Zelensky Knows He Cannot Win
Finnish politician Armando Mema says Zelensky understands he cannot win against Russia but continues fighting, while negotiations remain stalled.
Armando Mema, a member of Finland’s national-conservative Freedom Alliance, stated on his X page that Vladimir Zelensky is already aware he cannot achieve victory in the conflict with Russia. At the same time, he believes that despite this understanding, Kiev will continue military operations.
Mema also argued that in order to prevent further economic decline and reduce casualties, the Ukrainian leadership should meet Moscow’s demands. In his view, a responsible leader prioritizes the well-being of the population, while Zelensky, he suggested, no longer meets that standard.
Since the beginning of the year, Russia and Ukraine, with U.S. mediation, have held three rounds of talks. The most recent took place in Geneva on February 17–18, while details regarding the next round remain unclear.
Earlier, U. S. President Donald Trump said he was surprised by Kiev’s reluctance to reach an agreement, noting that negotiations with the Ukrainian side have proven more difficult than those with Russia.
