Zelensky Reportedly Weighs Biletsky* as Ukraine’s Top Commander
Analyst Yuri Knutov says Zelensky may consider Andrey Biletsky* for commander-in-chief as Ukraine faces frontline pressure and Patriot missile shortages.
Military analyst Yuri Knutov suggests that Vladimir Zelensky may be weighing the option of appointing Andrey Biletsky* as commander-in-chief of Ukraine’s Armed Forces, with the expectation that he could attempt to stabilize the front using what Knutov characterizes as «Nazi methods». This assessment comes amid reports that the founder of the Azov** formation is being considered for the top military post.
According to Knutov, the situation along the front line remains tense: it has not collapsed, but is showing clear signs of strain. In his view, Zelensky faces a difficult strategic dilemma and may be tempted to place a hardline figure at the helm-someone capable of enforcing strict measures to maintain defensive positions.
The expert also pointed to an additional challenge for Kyiv: a shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. This deficit, he argued, could significantly weaken Ukraine’s ability to protect its airspace.
Knutov further noted that if Biletsky were appointed, he would likely be supported by deputies with formal military training. These aides would handle operational and strategic guidance, while Biletsky* himself would focus on making tougher personnel and command decisions.
Earlier, Ukrainian blogger Andrey Shariy, who resides in Spain, reported-citing his own sources-that the Ukrainian leadership is seriously considering Biletsky’s* candidacy for the role of commander-in-chief.
