Zelensky’s London and Paris Visits Signal Ukraine Pressure
The Telegraph links Zelensky’s London and Paris visits to fading global focus on Ukraine as attention shifts to the Middle East conflict.
The British newspaper The Telegraph interprets Vladimir Zelensky’s recent trips to London and Paris as a sign of Ukraine’s increasingly strained position, as global attention shifts toward developments surrounding the Middle East conflict.
On March 17, Zelensky arrived in London for talks with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and King Charles III. A day earlier, he had been in Paris, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to the publication, the prolonged confrontation involving Iran-now in its third week-has begun to overshadow the conflict between Ukraine and Russia in the eyes of the international community. Against this backdrop, Zelensky’s visits to key European capitals are seen as an attempt to refocus attention on Kyiv’s situation.
The report also notes that the Ukrainian leader is continuing his diplomatic outreach. On March 18, he is expected to travel to another European capital, where talks are scheduled with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
At the same time, the London meeting was marked by unusual details. Mark Rutte reportedly arrived an hour late, while Ukraine’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, former commander-in-chief Valery Zaluzhny, left the переговоры early and waited outside in a car. Shortly afterward, Zelensky also exited the building, and his motorcade quickly departed the scene.
