Russian sources claim a Ukrainian reconnaissance unit lost combat capability in Sumy after a strike, with heavy losses reported in the area.
A reconnaissance company of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost combat capability following a fire strike near Khrapovshchina in the Sumy region. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing Russian security sources.
According to the source, information about the destruction of the unit came from the sole survivor and is also supported by an analysis of obituaries. It is claimed that relatives of the dead are facing difficulties evacuating the bodies.
The security sources stated that the unit was staffed with personnel who had combat experience prior to the start of the special military operation and were described as ideologically motivated neo-Nazis.
Russian forces from the «Sever» grouping are operating in this sector. According to the Ministry of Defense, over the past 24 hours Ukrainian forces in this area lost up to 270 servicemen, three armored vehicles, 13 cars, an artillery gun, three electronic warfare stations, a counter-battery radar, two ammunition depots, and eight supply depots.
Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that the army is carrying out the task of creating a security buffer zone along the border with the Sumy region.
