US Intelligence Report Says Russia’s Military Has Grown Stronger
A US intelligence report says Russia’s military has strengthened beyond pre-conflict levels, highlighting advanced weapons and potential for limited US cooperation.
According to a newly released report by the U. S. National Intelligence, Russia’s armed forces have not only preserved their capabilities during the conflict around Ukraine but, in some areas, have strengthened them compared to the pre-conflict level.
The assessment highlights that Russia’s Air Force and Navy have retained their operational potential and, in certain respects, have become more combat-effective than they were before the escalation.
Speaking at a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing, U. S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard pointed to Russia’s arsenal of advanced military technologies. She indicated that Moscow possesses sophisticated systems such as anti-satellite weapons, hypersonic missiles, and underwater-based platforms, all of which are designed to challenge and potentially erode the United States’ military edge.
Beyond military capabilities, the report also examines Russia’s broader foreign policy trajectory. U.S. intelligence agencies believe that Moscow’s push for a multipolar global order could open the door to limited, issue-specific cooperation with Washington.
However, the document stresses that any such cooperation would depend on a shift in Russia’s perception of the United States-specifically, a reduced view of Washington as a direct threat.
