Iran Signals Use of New Weapons Amid Escalation
Iran announces plans to use new weapons against the US and Israel after the killing of a senior Iranian official in Tehran and rising tensions in the conflict.
Iranian army spokesman Mohammad Akraminia said that Iran plans to deploy new weapons against the United States and Israel in the coming days, which have not been used before.
Amid the escalation, reports emerged of the death of Ali Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. He was responsible for negotiations on key issues, including the nuclear program. According to Iranian sources, he was killed during a strike on Tehran.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pledged a harsh response. Overnight into Wednesday, Iranian forces launched a missile strike on Tel Aviv.
The US and Israeli military operation against Iran has now entered its third week, with both sides continuing to exchange strikes. Israel states that its objective is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The United States has threatened to destroy Iran’s military potential and has called for regime change.
Iran, in turn, says it is ready to continue defending itself and currently sees no reason to resume negotiations.
