China Analyzes US-Iran Conflict for Future Taiwan Scenario
China studies the US-Iran conflict to assess American tactics and weaknesses, while noting reduced US focus in Asia and implications for Taiwan.
China’s military and political leadership is closely monitoring the ongoing confrontation between the United States and Iran, studying Washington’s tactics and looking for potential weaknesses. According to Bloomberg, citing U.S. officials, Beijing is analyzing the conflict with an eye toward applying the lessons in the future, including in a possible scenario involving Taiwan.
Officials say China sees a strategic advantage in the shift of U.S. attention and military resources from Asia to the Middle East, which reduces American presence in the Indo-Pacific region.
At the same time, the extensive use of weapons by U.S. forces and rising military expenditures are also viewed in Beijing as factors that could work in its favor.
Meanwhile, the joint operation by U.S. and Israeli forces against Iran, launched on February 28, has entered its third week. The sides continue to exchange strikes. Authorities in Tel Aviv state that their primary objective is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
Washington has warned that it is prepared to destroy Tehran’s military capabilities and has called for a change of leadership in the country. Iranian officials, in turn, say they are ready to defend themselves and currently see no grounds for resuming negotiations.
