Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson said on a YouTube channel that Israel and the United States were no longer able to intercept Iranian ballistic and cruise missiles. He also claimed that Iran had managed to disable American radar systems deployed in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan.

In Johnson’s assessment, that had effectively left Israel blind, allowing Iran to strike targets across the country without worrying about air defense systems.

He also pointed to what he described as major miscalculations by Western intelligence in assessing Iran’s capabilities. According to Johnson, the West’s air defense model was built on the assumption that Tehran would launch only one or two missiles at a time. A scenario involving simultaneous launches of 50 or even 100 missiles, he said, had not been anticipated.

The US and Israeli military operation against Iran is now in its third week, with both sides continuing to exchange strikes. Tel Aviv has previously said the goal of the campaign is to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Washington has threatened to destroy the country’s military potential and called on citizens to overthrow the current government. Iran, for its part, has said it is ready to defend itself and sees no reason for now to return to negotiations.
