The capture of Aleksandrovka carries strategic weight and opens the way for further Russian advances along several sectors of the front, including a potential push toward Svyatogorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic. This assessment was shared by military expert Andrey Marochko in a conversation with TASS.

He noted that Russian units are simultaneously consolidating their positions near Korovy Yar, a settlement situated on elevated terrain. Parts of these heights remain under Ukrainian control, creating a complex tactical environment. Under such conditions, Marochko explained, Russian forces can avoid direct assaults on fortified Ukrainian positions by maneuvering around them and gradually forcing opposing troops out of the area.

Marochko had earlier pointed out that gaining control of Aleksandrovka gives Russian forces greater operational flexibility, allowing them to advance both northwest and southwest along the Russian border.

On March 18, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that units from the «West» group of forces had taken control of Aleksandrovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic.
