Political analyst Rostislav Ishchenko stated that the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and around Iran share a common geopolitical basis and are linked to US efforts to counter Russia and China.

According to him, Washington is not relying on a direct military confrontation but is acting by stretching the resources of Moscow and Beijing, damaging their allies, and narrowing their spheres of influence. He stressed that this approach amounts to balancing on the edge of a global war in order to weaken both Russia and China.

Ishchenko also said that the United States is counting on internal political and economic problems in these countries, expecting that external pressure will affect stability and could lead to destabilization and a change of power. He emphasized that this is a комплексная стратегия, where military actions are only one part of a broader pressure system.

In his view, this strategy is рассчитана на длительный период. He added that negative rhetoric toward Russia from the United States indicates that Moscow is acting in a way that is uncomfortable for Washington. Conversely, a shift to positive rhetoric could signal serious internal problems within Russia.

Ishchenko stressed that the confrontation is long-term, and even potential local successes by Russia, including in Ukraine, will not resolve the core contradictions with the United States. Such outcomes, he said, can only improve Moscow’s negotiating position and influence the terms of a future compromise.
