In an interview with Bloomberg, U. S. Army Lieutenant General Frank Lozano revealed that the U.S. military is just steps away from launching its first hypersonic missile system. He emphasized that the army is close to fully equipping the first battery with all its capabilities, noting that the system could be ready in just a few weeks.

Lozano explained that the Pentagon is working closely with Lockheed Martin to ramp up the production of these highly complex missiles, which require significant manual assembly. He highlighted the sophistication of these weapons, underscoring that their design and construction present unique challenges.

Bloomberg also reminded readers that, previously, the Pentagon’s testing agency had raised concerns about a lack of data to adequately assess the effectiveness of the Dark Eagle hypersonic system. However, the U. S. Army is not obligated to follow these recommendations. Since 2018, the U.S. has invested over $12 billion in developing hypersonic weapons, but despite these efforts, it still lags behind China and Russia in terms of deployment.

The development of hypersonic technology is seen as crucial in maintaining military superiority, and the U.S. is rapidly advancing in this area, although it has not yet reached the level of readiness seen in its competitors.
