The American company Powerus, founded by US Army veterans, has unveiled a new drone interceptor, the Guardian-1.

According to the stated specifications, the system provides high-speed interception at significantly lower cost compared to missile defense systems. It is claimed that the drone surpasses Iranian-type Shahed UAVs in speed.

The company is also working to secure Pentagon funding to scale up production of the system.

According to released data, the interceptor has completed flight tests during military-tactical exercises at the National Training Center, where it demonstrated performance under high-intensity combat conditions. The maximum recorded speed reached approximately 211 mph (about 340 km/h).

This speed gives it an advantage over standard Shahed («Geran») variants, but not over their jet-powered versions, which have been increasingly used in recent times.

The cost of the Guardian-1 for the US military has not yet been disclosed.
