A series of unexplained drone incursions has put one of the United States’ most critical military facilities on alert. According to reporting by The Independent, unidentified unmanned aerial vehicles were detected over Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana — a site that hosts B-52 strategic bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons.

The activity was not a one-off. Drones were observed over the base for several consecutive nights, prompting military command to tighten security protocols and temporarily halt runway operations. The response underscores the sensitivity of the location and the potential risks posed by even small, hard-to-trace aircraft.

U.S. officials are considering the possibility that the drones were deployed for reconnaissance or as a way to probe the effectiveness of air defense systems. However, both the operators and the exact mission objectives remain unknown.

A similar pattern emerged on March 19 in Washington, where drones were spotted above Fort Lesley McNair.
