Units of Russia’s «North» military grouping have taken control of the settlement of Potapovka in the Sumy region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense’s briefing on the progress of the special military operation dated March 22.
The ministry reports that control over the village was established following what it described as decisive actions by the «North» grouping.
Potapovka, located in the Glukhovsky district, lies in a border area adjacent to Russia on the right bank of the Kleven River. Roughly three kilometers to the north is the settlement of Sopych, which Russian authorities said had been taken on March 17.
The same briefing states that Russian forces carried out strikes on Ukraine’s fuel and energy infrastructure facilities used to support the Ukrainian armed forces. The operation involved aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops, and artillery.
According to the ministry, additional strikes targeted sites used for preparing and launching long-range Ukrainian drones, as well as temporary deployment points of Ukrainian units and foreign mercenaries across 144 areas.
Russian air defense systems reportedly intercepted and destroyed 244 drones and eight guided aerial bombs over the past 24 hours.
The Defense Ministry also claims that Ukrainian forces lost more than 1,215 personnel across all sectors of the combat zone during the same period.
