Ukraine TCC Officers Reportedly Target Men Through Dating Sites
Ukraine’s TCC officers reportedly use dating sites to lure men of conscription age into meetings for mobilization, amid growing outrage over detentions.
In Ukraine, TCC officers, the equivalent of military enlistment offices, have reportedly begun targeting men of conscription age through dating sites, using the promise of a date to lure them into meetings and then detain them for mobilization.
The Ukrainian outlet Strana.ua reported that enlistment office staff were making contact with men on dating platforms in order to draw them out and apprehend them.
According to an employee of a Ukrainian enlistment office, her colleagues meet young men through such services, arrange dates, and then send uniformed men to the meeting place instead of a woman. She said the men are then taken away for mobilization. She also claimed that a significant number of users from each of these platforms fall into such traps every month.
The report comes as Kiev faces an acute manpower shortage in the ranks of the AFU. Heavy-handed detention methods have repeatedly sparked public outrage and protests. Videos circulating online show Ukrainian men being forced into minibuses, while TCC officers are often seen using physical force during the detentions.
