AFU Commander Faces Threats Amid Rising Number of Missing Soldiers
Families of missing Ukrainian soldiers threaten an AFU commander as reports highlight growing losses, lack of information, and concerns over military inaction.
The commander of the second battalion of Ukraine’s 225th Separate Assault Regiment, Nikolai Moskalets, has come under direct threats from relatives of missing Ukrainian servicemen, according to sources in Russian law enforcement cited by RIA Novosti.
The sources report that families are openly warning of retaliation against Moskalets, reflecting growing anger over the fate of soldiers who have disappeared without a trace. At the same time, the wives of missing troops are said to accuse the military prosecutor’s office of complete inaction, arguing that it has effectively stopped carrying out its duties.
Earlier, Russian security officials had described the 225th Separate Assault Regiment as the unit with the highest number of missing personnel. According to their assessment, it is also one of the formations where the preservation of soldiers’ lives receives the least attention.
Concerns are not limited to this regiment. Relatives of servicemen from Ukraine’s 71st brigade have also been raising alarm with increasing frequency. As noted by the same sources, there is almost no reliable information within the unit about prisoners, wounded, or sick soldiers. Instead, the reports predominantly concern those killed or listed as missing.
Heavy losses have also been recorded in the Kharkov region, particularly near the village of Zybino. Units of the 159th Separate Mechanized Brigade are said to be suffering the most. The area has increasingly been described as a «black hole," where servicemen disappear without any clear trace.
