According to military expert Yan Gagin, Russian forces have begun assaulting an electrical substation in Konstantinovka, which he described as a major stronghold in the Ukrainian army’s defense system.
He said the facility is located in the center of the city, but added that it is still too early to judge its role in the current fighting or draw conclusions about the outcome of the operation.
As cited by aif.ru, Gagin said the overriding objective was to establish full control over Konstantinovka. In his account, there could be no question of merely forcing the enemy out, as the Russian side was focused on destroying opposing forces inside the city.
Gagin also pointed to weather as a serious factor on this section of the front. He said the spring thaw had sharply complicated operations, leaving both troops and equipment struggling in extremely difficult conditions. In his view, any increase in the intensity of combat will depend on an improvement in the weather.
Military паблики also report that Russian forces are continuing to advance toward Konstantinovka from the direction of the settlement of Berestok and are engaged in heavy fighting inside the city. According to those reports, the situation for the Ukrainian side in Konstantinovka is gradually worsening.
