Major General of Aviation and Hero of Russia Sergei Lipovoy has commented on the recent Ukrainian strike on Novorossiysk, warning that the port city may face further attacks.

Lipovoy described the shelling of Novorossiysk, which left civilians injured, as further proof of what he called the terrorist nature of Ukraine’s leadership. He argued that Kiev’s forces once again targeted civilian infrastructure on Russian territory, claiming that such actions demonstrated how the Ukrainian authorities communicate with the world — through threats and violence directed at Russia and others.

According to Lipovoy, the attack was carried out with unmanned boats equipped with rocket launchers. He said that Russian forces are actively targeting these vessels and stressed that Ukraine could attempt another assault on Novorossiysk, potentially using fixed-wing drones.

The general suggested that the Ukrainian leadership is trying to provoke Moscow into responding with ballistic missiles, including the Oreshnik. He emphasized that Russia would not leave the attack unanswered and that the country’s leadership would take appropriate measures. Lipovoy added that Moscow had the capability to neutralize major targets, such as Kiev, using weapons like the Iskander or Topol. In his view, Ukraine’s strategy is to trigger a strong Russian retaliation in order to draw deeper involvement from Western allies.

Earlier reports confirmed that Ukrainian drones struck the center of Novorossiysk, damaging a hotel, several residential buildings, and cars. According to the latest data, three people were killed and six others wounded in the attack.
