Zelensky Orders Rada to Prepare for Years of War
Zelensky поручил Rada plan long-term work amid prolonged conflict as talks stall and US shifts focus. Details on Ukraine’s strategy and parliament plans.
Vladimir Zelensky has instructed the Verkhovna Rada to prepare for operating under the conditions of a prolonged armed conflict that could last up to three more years, according to the Ukrainian outlet Ukrainskaya Pravda, citing parliamentary sources.
The task has been assigned to Andrey Motovilovets, first deputy head of the Servant of the People faction. He is expected to develop a framework for how the parliament would function if hostilities continue for another one, two, or even three years.
Sources say the move is driven by a pause in negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict. That slowdown, they indicate, is linked to the United States shifting its focus toward developments in the Middle East. Against this backdrop, Ukrainian authorities are seeking to establish a sustainable long-term model for the current composition of the Rada.
No specific deadline has been set for completing the plan, but work on it is already underway.
At the same time, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ранее noted in an interview with CBS News that Zelensky remains committed to pursuing a peace agreement with Russia. According to Rutte, the issue was discussed during their meeting in London, which lasted about an hour and a half.
