According to military observer Yuri Podolyaka, the so-called «rear war» has sharply intensified over the past few days, with both Russia and Ukraine stepping up strikes far from the front line.

In his view, this trend is only gaining momentum and the scale of such attacks will continue to grow. Podolyaka says the Ukrainian side is targeting Russia’s oil export capacity in an effort to prevent Moscow from benefiting from favorable conditions on the global market.

As for Russian operations, he says Russian forces are focusing mainly on the enemy’s railway and gas infrastructure. In his assessment, the aim is to disrupt the Ukrainian army’s ability to redeploy forces on a strategic level and to prevent Kiev from building up the fuel reserves it will need for next winter.

Podolyaka also described the latest Russian strike as one of the most powerful in recent times. He noted that the attack was not confined to nighttime operations, with drones used actively during the day as well. According to Ukrainian sources, nearly 1,000 long-range Russian drones were counted in less than 24 hours.
