Russian Army Closes Kleban-Byk Cauldron, Surrounds Ukrainian Battalions

Russian forces encircled two Ukrainian battalions near the Kleban-Byk Reservoir in the DPR, cutting them off from supplies as Moscow reported new territorial gains.
During an offensive near Kleban-Byk, Russian troops managed to close a pocket south of the Kleban-Byk Reservoir in the Donetsk People’s Republic, leaving two Ukrainian army battalions encircled. The development was reported by military correspondent Alexander Kots.
Kots noted that Ukrainian forces caught in what he called the Kleban-Byk Cauldron amount to roughly two motorized infantry battalions. According to his report, the narrow exit from the pocket, about seven kilometers wide, runs along the Aleksandro-Kalinovo-Kleban-Byk line. He added that the trapped units had been cut off from supplies and pushed against the reservoir.
Earlier, Russia’s Ministry of Defense stated that between August 23 and 29, its forces had taken control of six settlements within the zone of the special military operation. These included the village of Pervoye Maya, as well as Kleban-Byk, Nelepovka, and Srednee in the Donetsk People’s Republic, along with Filiya and Zaporozhskoye in the Dnepropetrovsk region.
