Iran is using cluster-type missiles against Israel, creating what experts describe as a «rain of fire» capable of covering vast areas. According to military analyst Yuri Knutov, the strike zone of such weapons can span an area comparable to several stadiums at once.

Reports of these attacks have surfaced before, and numerous videos circulating online appear to show Iranian medium-range ballistic missiles equipped with warheads carrying dozens of submunitions hitting various targets.

Knutov explains that Tehran deploys these missiles against airfields, concentrations of equipment and personnel, as well as Israeli military bases. He also notes that the same systems can be used to target energy infrastructure facilities.

One example is the Iranian Khorramshahr-4 missile, which carries around 80 submunitions. Each of them has relatively limited destructive power on its own, meaning they do not cause large-scale damage individually.

However, their effectiveness lies elsewhere. Once released, the submunitions disperse over a wide area, saturating everything within the strike zone. This wide coverage, the expert suggests, is what allows such weapons to effectively hit multiple targets at once.
