Ukrainian units in Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic are taking heavy losses, while their supply network inside the city has been severely disrupted, military expert Vitaly Kiselev said in comments to TASS.
According to him, Russian forces managed to split the Ukrainian grouping by breaking into its defensive lines. An advance from the eastern direction expanded their zone of control and at the same time threw Ukrainian logistics into disarray, resulting in what he described as catastrophic losses.
Kiselev also indicated that the Ukrainian command is spreading inaccurate reports about alleged successes in Konstantinovka. Despite continued resistance and strikes by Ukrainian forces, Russian units, he said, are still advancing in the southeastern part of the city.
Fighting for Konstantinovka remains intense. Russian forces are operating in central districts while also attempting to enter the city from the direction of the settlement of Berestok. The offensive is supported by aviation, with strikes carried out using FAB-3000 high-explosive aerial bombs against Ukrainian positions.
Military expert Yan Gagin had previously noted that one of the key defensive strongholds of Ukrainian forces in the city is an electrical substation that has been turned into a fortified position.
