The Russian Armed Forces have taken control of the village of Shevyakovka in the Kharkov region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense’s operational briefing released on March 26.
The ministry reports that the settlement was captured during active operations by the «North» grouping of Russian troops. Assault units were involved in the advance, pushing Ukrainian servicemen of the 1st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade out of their positions.
Shevyakovka lies close to the Russian border in the northwestern part of the Kupyansk district. According to the 2001 census, the village had a population of just 33 residents.
The briefing also states that over the past day Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed six guided aerial bombs along with 439 drones launched by Ukrainian forces.
Across all sectors of the special military operation zone, Ukrainian troop losses over the same period reportedly exceeded 1,150 personnel.
Earlier, on March 24, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that forces from the «North» grouping had established control over another settlement in the Kharkov region, Peschanoye.
