Military correspondent Aleksandr Kots said the capture of Shevyakovka in Kharkov Region could allow Russian forces to establish a new foothold on this sector of the front.

In his assessment, the Sever grouping appears to be securing a new bridgehead on territory held by the opposing side. He noted that the village lies about three kilometers south of the road to Veliky Burluk and serves as an important logistics point for the AFU. Control over Shevyakovka, he argued, could disrupt supplies to Ukrainian units attacking Russian positions near Kupyansk.

Earlier, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported that troops from the Sever force grouping had taken Shevyakovka. The settlement is located near the border with the Valuysky urban district of Belgorod Region, around five kilometers west of the Russian village of Stary Khutor.

According to military Telegram channels, Russian units pushed out forces from Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate from Shevyakovka. Those reports also said that most of the enemy units stationed there had been destroyed.
