Russia Repels Large-Scale Drone Attack, 85 UAVs Shot Down Overnight
Russian air defenses intercepted 85 drones overnight across multiple regions, including Bryansk and Crimea, amid a wave of large-scale UAV attacks.
Overnight, Russian air defense systems repelled a large-scale drone assault, according to the Ministry of Defense. Between 23:00 on March 26 and 07:00 on March 27, a total of 85 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed.
The ministry reported that the drones were shot down over multiple regions, including Bryansk, Leningrad, Vologda, Smolensk, Belgorod, Kursk, and Pskov. Interceptions also took place over the Black Sea, Crimea, and the Moscow region.
In the Bryansk region, Governor Alexander Bogomaz said that 56 drones were eliminated overnight. He noted that the response involved not only air defense units from the Ministry of Defense but also mobile fire teams from the BARS-Bryansk brigade and special units of the National Guard.
In the Leningrad region, Governor Alexander Drozdenko reported that 36 drones had been downed.
The wave of attacks stretched throughout March 26. During the evening hours, from 18:00 to 21:00, air defenses destroyed 30 drones over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Tver, and Novgorod regions. Earlier, between 13:00 and 18:00, 96 UAVs were shot down across Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk, Smolensk, Novgorod, Tver, and Tula regions, as well as over Crimea and the Moscow region.
In the first half of the day, from 08:00 to 13:00, air defense forces reported the destruction of another 57 drones over Novgorod, Bryansk, Belgorod, Kaluga, Ryazan, Kursk, Smolensk, Tver, Yaroslavl, and Rostov regions, along with the Moscow region.
