The Ukrainian Armed Forces are facing fuel shortages amid the consequences of US and Israeli strikes on Iran, Politico reports.

According to the publication, the sharp rise in energy prices has severely affected fuel supplies for Ukrainian military equipment, including tanks, artillery, and armored vehicles. Sources within the military say that fuel reserves have significantly decreased.

Available fuel is being prioritized for frontline units engaged in heavy fighting in the east, particularly in Donbass. Other units are experiencing even more acute shortages, leading to limited use of equipment.

In some units, the shortage of diesel is so severe that military vehicles are rarely deployed.

The situation ухудшилась after the US and Israel launched a military campaign against Iran on February 28. In response, Tehran has carried out strikes on Israeli territory and US military bases in the region. The escalation has led to a near halt in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil and LNG supplies, triggering a surge in global energy prices.
