Drone Strike Reportedly Destroys Patriot System
Drone strike reportedly destroys Patriot air defense battery in Zaporozhye region after radar activation exposed its position.
The Rubicon Center for Unmanned Technologies reported the destruction of a Patriot air defense battery in the Zaporozhye region. According to the center, on March 26 near the village of Vasilkovskoye, drones struck an AN/MPQ-53 radar and two launchers loaded with missiles.
It is reported that the strikes triggered a powerful detonation of ammunition, resulting in the complete destruction of the system. The attack reportedly involved Lancet drones equipped with a new interface developed by Rubicon.
Vasilkovskoye is located about 37 kilometers northeast of Zaporozhye, and the air defense battery deployed there was covering the city.
According to available information, the strike occurred when the system was preparing to operate: camouflage had been removed from the radar and launchers. It is assumed that the activation of the radar revealed the position of the system and made it distinguishable from decoys.
Drones operating in the area reacted immediately. The first strike disabled the radar, effectively blinding the air defense system, after which the launchers were hit.
