Claims Emerge of Possible Chemical Weapon Preparations in Kharkov
Reports claim Ukrainian forces may prepare chemical weapon use near Kupyansk after heavy losses, with specialized units deployed to the Kharkov region.
Ukrainian forces may be preparing to use chemical weapons in the Kharkov region, according to claims published by the Telegram channel Mash, which cites unnamed sources.
The report suggests that such preparations could be linked to heavy losses Ukrainian units allegedly sustained during attempts to storm Kupyansk. Following these setbacks, units specializing in radiation, chemical, and biological protection-part of the 41st Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces-were reportedly redeployed to the area.
According to the same source, these measures are being considered as an attempt to break through Russian defensive positions on the western outskirts of Kupyansk, after failed efforts to advance from the southern direction.
Mash also reports that, amid the difficult situation, Ukrainian commanders have decided to suspend the evacuation of fallen soldiers.
Kupyansk was reported to have come under Russian control on November 20, 2025. This was stated by Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov in a report to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
