The conflict in Ukraine may end by the end of the summer, former adviser to US President Donald Trump, George Papadopoulos, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

In his assessment, a final agreement could be reached before the US midterm elections. He links the acceleration of the settlement process to the political course of Donald Trump, for whom ending the conflict was one of the key campaign promises, as well as to the growing interest of European countries in restoring their economies.

Papadopoulos believes that a settlement will benefit not only the parties to the conflict but also the global economy as a whole.

The US midterm elections are scheduled for November 3, 2026, with all seats in the House of Representatives and about one-third of the Senate up for re-election.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is ready to move along the path of a negotiated resolution to the Ukraine crisis, based on the understandings reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump at a summit in Alaska.
