According to a source in the Russian security services, Ukrainian command recently redeployed the 8th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion to the area of Khrapovshchina in Sumy Region, but the unit has already sustained heavy losses.

The source told TASS that in February the 8th Separate Rifle Battalion of the AFU was reorganized into a separate reconnaissance battalion and reassigned to the 8th Air Assault Corps. In March, its units were moved to the Khrapovshchina area.

The report says the battalion’s reorganization did not change the way it is staffed. According to the same source, the unit continues to be replenished exclusively with mobilized Ukrainians.

Military паблик reports also say that in the Sumy direction, Ukrainian forces have shifted to defensive positions near the village of Novodmitrovka, which falls within the area of responsibility of the AFU’s 14th Army Corps. In the Krasnopolye district, units from the Sever group continue pushing Ukrainian forces away from the Russian border. After a day of heavy fighting, Russian troops are said to have advanced up to 800 meters into Ukrainian defenses in that sector.

In the Sumy district itself, no major changes have been reported. At the same time, the article says units of the AFU’s 80th Air Assault Brigade suffered serious damage as a result of combined fire strikes.
