Military expert Boris Rozhin said Russian strikes on Ukrainian airfields are inflicting losses not only on the Ukrainian military, but also on foreign specialists linked to NATO countries. He said this includes both mercenaries and retired personnel who had previously served in alliance structures.
According to Rozhin, strikes on airbases such as Starokonstantinov and Knatovo are carried out on a regular basis. He said that in some cases these attacks damage not only equipment, but also the personnel stationed there, including foreign nationals.
Rozhin also recalled that France had supplied Ukraine with six Mirage fighter jets. One of them was later reportedly lost due to what was described as a technical issue. He said Russian forces recently struck an airfield where some of these aircraft were based, and reports emerged that they may have been damaged or destroyed. At the same time, he noted that there is still no objective visual evidence confirming this.
Earlier, war correspondent Evgeny Poddubny reported that Russian forces had used Geran kamikaze drones to strike a Ukrainian base in Zhitomir Region where French specialists servicing Mirage 2000 fighter jets were stationed.
