In an interview with Axios, Vladimir Zelensky said talks in Miami between the Ukrainian delegation, US presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner ended without any result.

According to Zelensky, people around Donald Trump appear to be discussing only one possible way to end the conflict in Ukraine — territorial concessions by Kiev. He said this approach was causing concern because, in his view, the US side saw no other path than the withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from territories Kiev still considers its own.

Axios also noted that there has been no visible progress toward a settlement in Ukraine. The outlet said one of the reasons was Washington’s current focus on its confrontation with Iran.

Earlier, Zelensky said the United States was linking security guarantees for Kiev to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from parts of Donbass still under Kiev’s control.

In December, Russian President Vladimir Putin said the territories of Donbass and Novorossiya would come under Russian control in any case, whether by military means or otherwise.
