Russian Senator Says Finland Is Drawn Into Conflict by Drones
Vladimir Dzhabarov says Finland is being drawn into conflict with Russia by allowing Ukrainian drones through its airspace after the Kouvola incident.
According to Vladimir Dzhabarov, deputy chairman of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, Finland is effectively becoming involved in the conflict with Russia by allowing Ukrainian drones to pass through its airspace.
He argued that drones flying through Finnish territory toward Russia put Helsinki in indirect, but still tangible, participation in the confrontation. In his view, the Finnish authorities should understand that such actions can cause serious harm to the Russian side. Dzhabarov also said Moscow has every reason to shoot down Ukrainian drones.
He believes Finland is underestimating the consequences of such incidents. At the same time, he said these concerns apply not only to Finland, but also to all three Baltic states.
Earlier, on March 29, Finland reported the appearance of several Ukrainian UAVs in its airspace. One of the aircraft fell near the city of Kouvola, around 285 kilometers from Saint Petersburg. Finnish authorities described the incident as a violation of territorial integrity.
