According to a Russian assault soldier with the call sign «Fomich» during the operation to liberate Kalinovskoye in the Dnipropetrovsk region, Russian troops discovered not only NATO weapons but also a German machine gun from World War II. Among the spoils of war was a modern 5.56mm Canadian assault rifle.

The soldier mentioned that they found a Browning machine gun mounted on a stand in a defensive bunker (D.O.T.) and were particularly surprised to come across the MG 42, a relic from the Great Patriotic War.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that units from the «Vostok» military grouping had successfully advanced through enemy defenses and liberated the settlement of Kalinovskoye.

As a result of the operation, Russian forces struck formations from three mechanized and assault brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as two territorial defense brigades, in the areas of Gavrilovka and Orestopol in Dnipropetrovsk, as well as Chervonoe in the Zaporizhzhia region.
