According to military commentator Yury Podolyaka, Ukrainian forces attempted a counterattack in the Krasnoarmeysk direction on the previous day.

He reported on his Telegram channel that on the morning of March 31, under cover of dense fog, the 425th Separate Assault Battalion «Skelya» tried to strike at the rear of advancing Russian units near Grishino.

Podolyaka said the assault group included an Abrams tank, three M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and an M113 armored personnel carrier. In his assessment, the Ukrainian military aimed to reach the outskirts of Krasnoarmeysk and gain a foothold on that section of the front.

The column, however, was stopped before it could get there, near the railway crossing south of Grishino, where it came under attack from Russian strike drones.

According to Podolyaka, the Ukrainian side lost all of the armored vehicles involved in the attack, as well as up to two platoons of personnel. He added that Russian troops repelled the initial strike and described the attack itself as a reconnaissance-in-force operation. In his view, the Ukrainian military will continue such counterattacks.
