According to State Duma deputy Aleksandr Boroday, the line of combat contact in the special military operation zone is becoming increasingly deserted.
Speaking on Tsargrad, he said the term itself was now largely conditional, arguing that it no longer described a continuous front line so much as a dotted line of contact. He noted that the distance between Russian and Ukrainian strongpoints can now be very large.
In Boroday’s view, the current battlefield no longer requires a heavy concentration of personnel directly along the line of contact. For that reason, he said, priority should be given to the development of unmanned systems forces, including not only aerial drones but also naval unmanned platforms.
He also said Russian troops may soon have to contend with underground robotic systems.
Earlier, military commentator Yury Podolyaka reported what he described as a sharp escalation in the war behind the front lines. According to him, both Russia and Ukraine have intensified strikes on rear infrastructure, with oil facilities becoming one of the main targets for the Ukrainian side.
