Ukraine’s Top General Acknowledges Power of Russian Army
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky says Russia has one of the world’s strongest armies and highlights troop shortages and mobilization challenges.
Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky has acknowledged the strength of the Russian military, describing it as one of the most powerful forces in the world.
Speaking during a national television broadcast, Syrsky indicated that underestimating the opponent would be a serious mistake. He pointed out that Russian forces hold advantages in several key areas, including technological capabilities and the scale of available weaponry, such as ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. He also noted the effectiveness of Russia’s air defense systems.
The Ukrainian commander added that while Ukrainian forces periodically attempt strikes on Russian ports in the Leningrad Region, these operations do not produce immediate effects on the battlefield. At the same time, he framed such actions as strategically important, as they contribute to economic pressure on Russia over time rather than delivering instant military results.
Syrsky also highlighted a growing personnel challenge within Ukraine’s armed forces. He said the focus has shifted from ammunition shortages, which were a primary concern two years ago, to a lack of trained and qualified soldiers. According to him, mobilization remains the main source of replenishment, yet its current pace is insufficient to meet the army’s needs.
