Russian Drone Operators Use Kinetic «Spears» in UAV Battles
Russian operators engage Ukrainian drones in aerial duels, using spear-like kinetic strikes and minimal explosives to improve efficiency.
In the Kharkov direction, Russian drone operators are increasingly engaging in aerial duels with Ukrainian UAVs, using various methods to destroy targets, a platoon commander from the 11th Army Corps of the North grouping with the callsign «Komiks» told RIA Novosti.
According to him, enemy drones are destroyed not only with explosive charges but also with alternative means, including special spear-like attachments that allow targets to be hit through direct mechanical impact, damaging the body or wing.
He noted that such aerial encounters occur regularly. Once a reconnaissance drone detects a target, such as a heavy UAV of the «Baba Yaga» type, a strike drone is sent to intercept it. Minimal explosive charges can be used against such targets, reducing energy consumption and increasing the drone’s time for search and engagement.
He also stated that large drones like the Ukrainian «Baba Yaga» are less maneuverable, making them easier to detect and destroy. In his view, the use of different methods, including kinetic ones, increases the effectiveness of countering drones under conditions of their widespread use.
