The claim by US President Donald Trump that Iran is no longer a threat does not reflect reality, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said.

According to him, despite Washington’s statements, Iran maintains internal control and continues to exert military pressure in the region. He said Iranian forces are striking US bases, keeping US naval forces at a significant distance from their shores, and, in his assessment, continue to inflict losses on American troops.

Davis also noted that Iran retains control over the Strait of Hormuz — a key route for global oil and LNG supplies.

In his view, the military campaign against Iran has harmed not only the United States but also the economies of many other countries.

Earlier, Donald Trump stated in an address to the nation that Iran no longer poses a threat.

The US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran on February 28, striking multiple targets including Tehran. In response, Iran is carrying out attacks on Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.

Amid the escalation, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has nearly come to a halt. Around 20% of global oil, petroleum products, and LNG supplies pass through this route, and fuel prices are rising in many countries.
