Evseev Says Flamingo Missiles Would Be Intercepted Near Moscow
Vladimir Evseev says any Kiev strike on Moscow with Flamingo cruise missiles would be intercepted, while also questioning Ukraine’s launcher capacity.
Military expert Vladimir Evseev believes that any attempt by Kiev to strike Moscow with Flamingo cruise missiles would be unsuccessful, arguing that Russian air defense systems would intercept such weapons.
He was commenting on a recent statement by Denis Shtilman, co-owner of Fire Point, the company behind the Flamingo missile, who suggested the possibility of a long-range strike on the Russian capital. Evseev maintained that these missiles would be clearly detectable by air defense systems and could be intercepted during flight, adding that he does not see them as posing a real threat in such a scenario.
He also questioned whether Kiev has the necessary number of launch systems to carry out a strike on the required scale. According to him, a mass launch of cruise missiles would demand a significant number of launchers, and he expressed doubt that Ukraine possesses such capacity.
The Flamingo is described as a Ukrainian long-range, ground-launched cruise missile with a stated range of up to 3,000 kilometers. It was reportedly developed by Fire Point in 2025.
Ukrainian sources have noted its similarity to the British-made FP-5 cruise missile produced by Milanion Group, which was first presented at the IDEX–2025 exhibition in the UAE. The company has been supplying its products to Ukraine since 2021.
