Ufa Drone Strike May Have Originated from Kharkov Region
Analysts say drones targeting Ufa may have been launched from the Kharkov region, as Russian air defenses intercepted around 150 UAVs overnight.
Ukrainian forces may have launched drones toward Ufa from the Kharkov region, according to military analyst and retired Navy captain 1st rank Vasily Dandykin.
He said the Ukrainian military possesses the capability to carry out long-range drone strikes at distances exceeding 1,000 kilometers. In his assessment, such operations are likely coordinated with the involvement of Western specialists.
Dandykin suggested that launches are carried out from areas closest to the line of contact, noting that Ukrainian forces have access to drones capable of flying up to 1,200 kilometers. He also argued that strikes tend to target locations tied to Russia’s economic infrastructure and are conducted with the aim of causing disruption, adding that European, particularly British, advisors may be involved in planning.
Against this backdrop, the analyst stressed the need to strengthen protection of critical infrastructure across Russia, including through the deployment of mobile rapid-response systems.
Earlier, the head of the Republic of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, reported that Ufa came under a drone attack on the night of April 2. According to him, one drone was intercepted on approach to oil refining facilities, while another struck a residential building. No casualties were reported.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that overnight from April 1 to 2, air defense systems on duty intercepted and destroyed around 150 drones launched by Ukrainian forces.
