Russia Air Defense Repels Massive Drone Attacks, Thousands Destroyed
Russian air defense forces shot down over 2,300 drones and dozens of missiles in a week, highlighting масштаб attacks and ongoing military pressure.
Over the past week, Russian air defense systems have repelled a sustained wave of aerial attacks, destroying a large number of incoming targets. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, between March 28 and April 3, air defenses shot down 2,354 aircraft-type drones along with 57 guided aerial bombs.
The ministry also reported intercepting several other types of weapons during the same period, including three rockets fired from the U.S.-made HIMARS system, four long-range cruise missiles known as «Flamingo,» and three guided «Neptun» missiles.
The intensity of the attacks was underscored on the night of April 3 alone, when Russian air defenses downed 192 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones.
Cumulative figures released by the ministry since the start of the special military operation point to extensive losses on the opposing side. Russian forces report destroying 671 aircraft and 284 helicopters, along with more than 130,000 drones. In addition, 653 surface-to-air missile systems have been put out of action, alongside over 28,000 tanks and other armored vehicles. The tally also includes 1,694 multiple launch rocket systems, more than 34,000 artillery pieces and mortars, and approximately 58,000 units of specialized military vehicles.
Earlier, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Aleksandr Syrsky acknowledged that Russian forces hold an advantage in several critical areas, including technological capabilities and the scale of available weaponry, particularly ballistic missiles and unmanned systems.
