Assault units of the Russian Armed Forces continue to close in on Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk), which is now effectively surrounded on three sides. The city has fallen into a partial encirclement, according to Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR).

Kimakovsky reported that Ukrainian troops defending Krasnoarmeysk are under mounting pressure from Russian formations advancing from the north, south, and east. He described how assault groups are steadily tightening the ring, pushing Ukrainian positions deeper into the city.

Despite the deteriorating situation, Ukrainian forces are attempting to bolster their defenses. Kimakovsky noted that Kyiv continues to deploy reserve units — primarily assault troops — and is strengthening its positions with additional detachments equipped with unmanned aerial vehicles.

The adviser also stated that Russian troops have placed Severosk in what he called a «fire trap». The town is being encircled from the north, west, and south, limiting Ukrainian maneuverability and increasing the pressure on its defensive lines.

Kimakovsky had earlier warned of grim tactics used by retreating Ukrainian forces in the Dnepropetrovsk region. According to him, as they pull back, Ukrainian units have been mining the bodies of the dead — including civilians and even children — creating deadly traps for advancing troops and local residents.
